Derek C. Kennard Jr

Derek has a certification as a Professional Trainer from National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CPT) and is the owner of Pro Edge Performance Training. Derek strives to help everyone he trains exceed their best and realize their potential. Derek has an extensive athletic background and is a Certified Personal Trainer. His football career started by winning a state title while at Desert Vista High School. He then went on to become a 4-year starter at the University of Nevada Reno earning all-conference honors 3 of those years. He made an immediate impact his freshman year making the all freshman team and capped off his senior season by being named the defensive MVP and earning a trip to the Hula Bowl. After his collegiate career, Derek was signed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2004 and spent time with the Ottawa Renegades of the CFL in 2005.

Billy Woodmansee

Billy is the facility manager at pro edge performance training. After acquiring his bachelors in justice studies and psychology with further emphasis in exercise science from Arizona State University, Billy decided to return to his roots in athletics and exercise. Having grown up in a family of athletes, playing junior college football, and being involved in athletics his whole life Billy has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of training throughout the years. He loves to live life to the fullest and strives to help people in whatever way he can. Billy is proud to be apart of the pro edge family and only expects the best for his clients and awesome staff. His proudest moment came when Pro Edge was voted “Best place to workout” by the ahwatukee foothills news in 2008 and 2009. Billy was also voted “best customer service”for his work at the gym and “best bartender” making him a 3 time award winner in 2009!

Jason Benedict

Growing up in Ahwatukee, Jason Benedict played many competitive sports ranging from soccer to track and cross country. Playing soccer since the age of 4, he has played with various club soccer programs throughout the Valley, including the Tempe Pros where he helped the team to three consecutive State Championships. Jason attended Desert Vista High School where he was a major contributor in the schools first ever soccer State Championship in 2002. After high school Jason played at Mesa Community College where he helped lead the team to a 24-4 season, and received an athletic scholarship to San Diego State University. While playing at San Diego State University Jason tore his ACL and was unable to finish the season. This injury played a major role in his decision to start training. He has a strong knowledge in the proper skills and mechanics of running and soccer, what it takes to get to that next level, as well as how to train and recover from an injury to get back in the game. He has trained at various gyms such as Mountainside Fitness, Pure Fitness, and 24 Hour Fitness.With everything Jason learned through his training, as well as his background in sports, he decided to come back to Phoenix where he could help the friends and families of the community he grew up in. Jason has been part of the Pro Edge family for over two years, where he was named one of the “Top 5 Personal Trainers” in the Ahwatukee Foothills News 2010 edition of “Best of Ahwatukee”.

Joel Sieczkowski

Joel played 4 seasons of college football at MCC and MUC as a linebacker. He also played arena football for two seasons. Joel has coached cheer/ tumbling since 2002. Joel has been a Personal Trainer for 9 years and has had the opportunity to help develop some amazing athletes. His passion for being a personal trainer is very evident in the results of his clients.

Chris Casednea

Pro Edge is pleased to announce the incorporation of boxing into our workout regimen! With over 18 years of experience, our new head trainer, Chris Castaneda, has the knowledge and expertise to help you achieve your goals. Born and raised in Phoenix, AZ, Chris began boxing at just 8 years old. By the age of 18, Chris had achieved success on both the state and national levels, first as a Golden Glove State Champion, and then as a national champion contracted with Michael Jordan gear. Chris is currently training clients at Pro Edge Monday-Friday, so whether you’re looking to get into shape, challenge yourself in new areas, or begin boxing on a competitive level, Chris has the tools to help you succeed!

Tom Elsworth

Tom Ellsworth has been working as an athletic trainer since 1984. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 1983 with emphasis in Physical Education and Athletic Training. He earned his Master of Arts degree in Health Education in 1989.
Tom has worked with high school, collegiate, professional and Olympic athletes. He has trained over 50 NCAA Division 1 athletes, Olympic silver medalist Matt Ghaffari and NFL players including the late Marquis Cooper.
After 10 years owning and running a private practice physical therapy/sports medicine clinic, Tom works with the trainers at Pro Edge Performance Training in Chandler, AZ. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he now lives in Mesa, AZ.
